Out of Order

So some of the next few post will be out of order I've been in the process of changing my shop around and I have forgotten to take step by step pictures of some projects so I've had to go back and take pictures of just finished products. On a good note my shop is 98% finished and I've started taking pictures again So enjoy and leave comments.

Honey Do List

For mother's day Ethan and myself made this honey do list box. We used some wood that I've had outside for over two years. It worked best with the weathered frame we bought at the store.

She actually had stuff written on this before I took this picture

I made the box bigger than it needed to be I was going to make it into something else but didn't have the right materials

Just has some chalk and note cards handy

Ethan thought doing this was the best part

In the end I didn't make it strong enough for the frame to hold the box so I had to buy some brackets to hold it up but she still likes it happy mothers day dear

Debbi's Birthday Bench

So I've started making these benches for people in my family this is the most recent one I have built two others. These are pretty easy and fast to build I plan on doing many more. Every time I do one I think of something better to do to it to make it look nicer.

My dad recently gave me a bundle of 2x4's so that is what I used

On this one I screwed 2 2x4's together instead of having every 2x4 by itself you will see on future post with my other benches

The process to level it seems to be the hardest but we are getting pretty good at it

My first benches I left the screw holes exposed like this and it drove me crazy but then I found something at the store

Wooden buttons they work perfectly I think it makes the bench

One prime coat and a couple layers of red paint later you get this little red garden bench

Sawdust Tip #1

Use it to absorb water, oil, vomit, or any other spills that can happen in your shop. Just poor over spill and let it absorb for a minute then sweep up the sawdust and throw it away. Keep a box of sawdust in the corner and pull it out when needed.

Kelsie's Jewelry Box

Again I had more pictures but I cannot find them this project was probably the hardest thing I've built yet and the most painful fun story for your laughs

My mother-in-law let me barrow a penny nailer a while ago and I thought I'd use it to put the bow together. Well I was doing pretty good for a while but stress a fatigue caught up with me. See I was working on at least 5 projects for Christmas and I had to much going through my head. Well I was nailing the face together and decided to do the slides at the same time. So moved it from it's back and sat it down on it's base to measure the rails, cut them, and sat them in there. Well being all wise and in a hurry I try to nail it standing up. So I put the gun up to the box and set my hand in the box to hold the rail steady and I tell myself right then I hope I don't shoot myself in the thumb then I pull the trigger. Sure as hell I missed the box all together and drive a nail 1 inch into my thumb. It did not hurt as bad as you might think. So I have Traves pull it out, clean it, bandage it and tell Kels. In all honesty it did not hurt. Well Kels panicked a little and had me go and get a tetanus shot. The doctor had me take some antibiotics after the shot which was fine. So I take one in the morning and go and work outside. Three hours latter I take another and my stomach starts to itch. No biggy I just go outside for three more hours. Come in strip down to take a shower and break out in hive all over my body. I start scratching my skin off. Long story short I was allergic to something in the antibiotics. It took three days for the effects to wear off. On top of that my arm was sore from the shot. So in the end I think I would have taken my chances with no shot. On the bright side the nail missed the bone.
